Born in Cuba, with roots going back centuries. One legend credits an early version to a 16th-century English privateer who used it as medicine. The modern version became famous in Havana in the early 20th century. A perfect Mojito is about balance — fresh mint, zesty lime, cool rum, subtle sweetness.
The smell of mint reached the table before the drink did; the next table ordered the same.
